Making Your Own Hand Sanitizer Spray
I have already written about this on the Vines N' Roses blog site, but I thought that I would add it here as well. Keep in mind rubbing alcohol does dry out your skin rather fast, so please do not use it all the time. Or try and bring back the natural oils back into your hands with hand-cream. Have fun creating this and stay safe!
What you will need:
60% rubbing alcohol
10% of aloe vera gel
30% water
At least 5 drops of essential oils (lemon, rose etc.)
Small spay bottle (or large depending on what you have on hand)
With the outbreak of COVID-19 it is important to stay safe. Social distancing, washing or sterilizing your hands etc. Here I have come up with a simple way of staying safe. This spay can be put into a small spray bottle in your car, backpack, or handbag if you need to go and get essentials while in self isolation.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Please do not use this spray all the time. The thing with hand sanitizers is that they get rid of most bacteria on your hands which is good, but it also gets rid of good bacteria as well. It also strips the skin of its natural oils and it becomes dry, so it is really important to only use this spray when you really need to. It really is your – “I don’t have time nor want to go into that public bathroom and wash my hands spray”, or even “ew, trollies”.
Also note that this is not something you want to use if you have sensitive skin or eczema as it can dry out your skin, however, adding the aloe and essential oils does help keep those oils in or replaces them in some way.
1. Depending on the size of your bottle you need to work out how much to put in which. Be mindful that if you put in too much rubbing alcohol it will be too strong and cause your skin to dry out faster. Slightly different with water, but that just means it won’t be as affective.
2. Add rubbing alcohol, aloe vera gel and water into your spray bottle and give it a good shake.
3. Add in your 5 drops of essential oils, I love lemon personally, because I do like the smell of traditional sanitizer smell. But it is totally up to you on what works best. You can also mix essential oil smells, for example Bergamot and lemon is a good mix (2 drops bergamot and 3 drops lemon).
Hope that you are all staying safe during this time. If you don’t need to go out, please stay at home. And perhaps use this time to try new things, read new material, play new games or Netflix and chill.
Stay safe friends x
